Polish youth wants Marijuana to be legalized

On May 29, 2010, more than five thousand youth, in the capital of Poland, Warsaw, marched towards their parliament, in a rally, as part of their demand towards legalizing marijuana in Poland.

Most rallying were in the age group between 15 and 19 years, while there were also many others in the age group of twenties and thirties. Some boys and girls smoked and drank beer while walking with their placards, others enjoyed their togetherness with friends & colleagues and few were on trailers, with loud music and singing songs on marijuana.

Presently, most of the demand for marijuana is catered by an illegal supply from Amsterdam. However, ever since Poland has become part of the EU and has free borders for travel to other Schengen countries, travel between Poland and Amsterdam has become frequent for those who enjoy their weekends with marijuana joints.

While there is no comment from the authorities if they will ever consider legalizing marijuana in Poland, however, with the present times, it seems that Amsterdam has its influence on the youth of Poland. While elders and many others may not favor the legalization of marijuana in Poland, fact is that, wether its legal or not, those who enjoy marijuana will always find ways to have access to it. Therefore, it will be ideal, to legalize the supply of marijuana and have a control on its supply, than to allow a hand full of suppliers who risk as well as flourish their illegal trade.
